Working with children gives us the greatest satisfaction, and a child’s smile encourages us to strive for even higher achievements. Although the loss of an eye is traumatic children adapt to the new conditions easily.
Free atmosphere and explanation in simple words let the child understand what has happened and how the eye prosthesis will allow to live life fully. Working with children means working with parents at the same time in order to teach the child to take care of the prosthesis.
The necessity to restore the ocular prosthesis decides the ocularist. The ocularist approves changing of the ocular prosthesis on the basis of microscopic examination of an analysis of connective tissue, complaints and process observation.
Children under 12 need a regular changing of the eye prosthesis twice a year while children under 18 need to change it three times in 2 years. Continued failure to use or change the ocular prosthesis may cause facial asymmetry and growth retardation not only for the ocular cavity, but also for the respective side of face.
Based on our knowledge, experience and skills in medicine, art and technology, we help clients improve their quality of life, creating the most suitable ocular prosthesis for their lifestyle, eye socket shape and specifics, eye colour and other features. We produce individually designed ocular prostheses and ectoprostheses for both children and adults.
